The Israel Trip

The Israel Trip

Watch the Dor L'Dor Video.

The Israel trip is physically, spiritually, and intellectually stimulating. It has included touring the historic sites and museums of Jerusalem, Tsfat and Tel Aviv; celebrating Shabbat at the Western Wall; hiking and camping in the Negev; snorkeling in the Red Sea at Eilat; climbing Massada; kayaking on the Jordan River; and experiencing a weekend-long mifgash with Israeli teens, often resulting in international friendships that last well beyond the summer.

Leadership Development:
For our camps and the Jewish community

The Dor L'Dor Leadership Program is a combined program of the Eli & Bessie Cohen Camps. It is recognized in Israel, the Jewish camping community, and throughout the United States as a unique and innovative leadership development experience. Current campers who have completed the 10th grade are eligible to experience a memorable 5-week tour of Israel and return to camp as Counselors-In-Training (CIT’s).

At the Eli & Bessie Cohen Camps, we strongly believe that exposing young people to Israel and their Jewish Heritage are integral parts of building Jewish identity and character. We view visiting and experiencing Israel as an important rite-of-passage, and the transition between being a camper and counselor is the ideal moment for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

CIT’s complete the Dor L’Dor program with treasured memories and new found knowledge about the historical, religious and cultural aspects of the State of Israel. They also develop friendships with campers from each of the three Eli & Bessie Cohen Camps while developing leadership skills that will serve them well at home, at camp, in school and in the Jewish community.

The Dor L'Dor Leadership Program involves both interactive workshops and hands-on leadership training to develop both camp-specific and life-important skills. While traveling and back at camp, CIT’s learn to be positive role-models and begin to develop skills for working with children.
