Shabbat Shalom from Pembroke!

Camp Works

Each passing day, and each week here at Pembroke, we’re reminded, over and over again, that camp works. It’s not always perfect, there are often bumps and bruises along the way, but at the end of each summer, and the end of your camper’s time at camp in 10 or 15 or 20 years, it’s undeniable that the magic behind this place just works. Maybe you’ve received a letter home describing tough moments, or details depicting those perfect memories filled with joy, trust the process, the outcome is a beautiful one. There’s something magical about Camp Pembroke—something that’s hard to put into words, but you know it when you feel it. It’s in the laughter echoing through the Horseshoe after Bunk Night, the quiet moments under the pine trees in the hammocks, the prayers sung in unison, and the joyful chaos of Shabbat dancing. It’s more than summer fun. It’s more than campfires and lake days. Camp Pembroke works—and we can’t wait for you to see how.

It Works to Create Good People

Camp isn’t just a place—it’s a community with purpose. From the moment our campers arrive, they become part of a values-driven environment where kindness, respect, and responsibility aren’t just words—they’re woven into every bunk cleanup, every team activity, every moment of growth. Leadership opportunities are nurtured early. Campers learn to speak up, to listen, to cheer each other on. They’re taught to care not just about what they do, but who they are becoming. At Camp Pembroke, we raise confident, empathetic, resilient girls—girls who go home a little stronger, a little braver, and filled with a whole lotta memories.

Works to Create a Culture of Kindness

Kindness isn’t an accident—it’s a culture. At Pembroke, it’s the way counselors greet every camper with open arms. It’s the way older campers braid the hair of the younger ones, or sit beside someone who looks homesick. It’s in the shared traditions, and the beautiful embraces between big and little sisters, the silent nods of understanding between bunkmates during tough moments. We teach that kindness is cool—and it becomes contagious. This culture doesn’t stop at the camp gates. Campers take it home with them, back to their schools, their communities, and their families. Pembroke becomes the place where kindness starts—and keeps going.

Works to Create Lifelong Friendships

Friendships at Pembroke aren’t made—they’re forged. Through days without phones, nights spent whispering in bunks, and shared experiences that can’t be replicated anywhere else, campers form bonds that last a lifetime. These friendships are rooted in authenticity. At Pembroke, you’re free to be exactly who you are. And when someone sees your silly side, your messy hair, your early-morning crankiness—and still chooses you? That’s the start of something real. Camp friends grow up together. They laugh, cry, support, and celebrate across miles and years. They become your chosen family.

Camp Pembroke is built on heart, powered by a sense of belonging, and filled with people who believe in lifting each other up. Here, we don’t just create campers. We shape leaders, spreaders of joy, and fierce friends for life.

This place isn’t just where memories are made. It’s where goodness grows.

And that’s why: Camp Pembroke works.
