Dear Tevya Families,
Astonishing that we’re already in the final stretch of First Session with just over a week to go! In some ways, it feels like we were just welcoming your children through the gates, and yet, so much has happened in the time since. Camp has been filled with energy, laughter, and countless memory-making moments.
We’ve truly loved getting to know your campers, and we’re grateful that you share them with us. If you haven’t realized it yet, camp is one of the greatest gifts you can give your child, offering friendship, fun, Jewish connection, independence, resilience, and so much more.
Keep reading to hear about the jam-packed week we’ve had!
Value of the Week: Social Responsibility
Last Shabbat, we introduced this week’s value: Social Responsibility. During services, I shared a powerful idea from Jewish tradition: “Words can build worlds, and words can destroy them.” The way we speak to and about one another truly matters—our words shape our community.
It’s not always easy to do the right thing. Sometimes it’s tempting to laugh along with gossip or stay silent when someone is being unkind. But social responsibility means choosing to speak up, to lead with kindness, and to act with integrity—even when it’s hard.
Here at camp, we challenge ourselves to use our words to lift each other up. That can be as simple as offering a kind word, saying thank you, or cheering someone on. These small moments build a big impact—and help create a community where everyone feels safe, seen, and valued. Camp is more than a place—it’s a shared home we build together.
Sneak Peak–next week’s value is Inclusion
Around Camp This Week
After Shabbat and Shira last Friday, we headed to the beach for a dazzling 4th of July fireworks display. With music, glow sticks, and Bomb Pops in hand, it was a celebration to remember. On Saturday night, campers took the stage to showcase their amazing talents. From singing to circus acts and everything in between, we loved watching them shine. We hope you’ve enjoyed the photos and videos on Campanion and social media! On Monday, we hosted the annual Girls Bog Volleyball Tournament right here at Tevya. While we didn’t take the trophy, our teams played hard, and the camp spirit was strong and proud.
Bog Overnight Trips
KTY in the White Mountains
KTY campers headed to New Hampshire for an overnight adventure in the White Mountains. Guided by Redline Guiding (who even wrote a blog post about it!), they hiked by day, bonded around the campfire with s’mores, and swam in the hotel pool. The next day brought even more fun at Cranmore Mountain, including the mountain coaster, alpine slide, and bungee trampoline!
BTC in West Forks, Maine
Meanwhile, BTC traveled north to Three Rivers White Water. After tubing down the Kennebec River and enjoying a campfire dinner, the next day brought the thrill of white water rafting—complete with class II, III, and IV rapids! You can check out photos from their rafting day here.
While the Bogs Were Away…
The Oles and Tsofs enjoyed a special day of camp all to themselves! Tuesday began with a late wake-up and a delicious omelet breakfast served by our Senior Staff. Campers rotated through bunk activities—giant waterslide, lake time, RPS (rowing and paddle sports), Rikud (Israeli dancing), and more. Kadima led an exciting Amazing Race, with campers racing around camp completing fun, creative challenges. Tuesday evening ended with a high-energy Siagel Social, complete with a DJ, lights, and a surprise visit from Steve Siagel himself, who led everyone in Tevya camp songs he wrote years ago. It was such a fun moment!
Trip Day to Water Country
On Wednesday, campers enjoyed a change of pace with our First Session Trip Day to Water Country. Whether they were riding water slides, floating the lazy river, or just hanging out with friends, everyone had a blast. The day ended with bunk night activities like poker tournaments, spa nights, four square, and more.
Game Day vs. Camp Young Judaea
We wrapped up the week with a Game Day showdown against CYJ! Tevya hosted Bog Softball and Tsof Volleyball, while other games were played at CYJ including Ole Newcomb, Tsof Softball and Bog Volleyball. Our athletes showed skill and sportsmanship. Our home teams came away victorious; our away games put up a good fight but couldn’t quite pull off the “W”. Nevertheless, a good time was had by all.
Evening Activities Recap
Oles: Dutch Auction, Counselor Hunt, Disco Bingo

Looking Ahead
With just over a week left, there’s still plenty of excitement on the horizon! Tomorrow night, we’ll celebrate our Israeli Beach Party—complete with music, games, and pita-making by the water. Next week brings a full slate of tournaments Jr. Jr. Coed Basketball, Senior Boys Basketball, and Jr. Boys Basketball. We can’t wait to cheer on our teams and share the results with you in our next update.
As always, thank you for being part of our Tevya family. We’re soaking up every last moment of this incredible session!
Shabbat Shalom,
