News from Week 6
Hello from Lake Potanipo!
It has been another busy week at Camp Tevya! With Second Session in full swing, campers have jumped into electives, activities, and all the fun that makes camp so special. Even the rainy weather this week couldn’t slow us down.
We were thrilled to welcome many prospective families for our final Try Tevya event of the summer. A giant thanks to our amazing BTC campers and Oles, who helped each future camper experience the community and spirit of Tevya. We are so proud of the leadership our campers showed throughout the day.
This past week, we also said goodbye to our YALLA 1-week, rising 2nd grade campers after an incredible week and welcomed our DLD campers back to the Tevya Bubble.
As we head into our final full week of camp, we are so happy to be in our favorite place and with our favorite people.

Tel Chai Counselor + Tarboot Specialist Years at Camp: 10

How was camp helped you to develop as a Jewish leader?
Everyday at camp I am gaining new insights on my identify as a jewish leader. Being on the Tarboot department, I am constantly instilling Jewish values into our campers' everyday lives. I have also had amazing opportunities to connect with our Israeli staff and hearing their perspective has broadened my understanding of what it means to be Jewish.

How have you grown at camp this summer?
Going from Yavneh last year to Tel Chai this year, both came with their own challenges and rewards. Being in Tel Chai has pushed me to adapt to my leadership styles, differing from Yavneh where the campers often need more hands on guidance. Tel Chai campers value independence and respond best when they are given responsibility and treated as leaders themselves. I have become more confident in my ability to connect with different campers and adjust my leadership styles.

- Hosted Jewish Arts Festival, including campers from Camp Yavneh, Camp Tel Noar, Camp Pembroke, Camp YJ, Camp Crane Lake, and Camp Bauercrest. The theme this year was “Be the Light,” and our Bogrot campers did a fantastic dance and song performance.
- Hosted the Annual Tevya Tennis Invitational + ended the day with a Tevya win! Special shoutout to Sienna Smith and Lylah Robinson, who won their individual brackets!
- Game Day: Tsofim Basketball won at Camp Bauercrest
- Yesterday was Trip Day – Everyone enjoyed a wet and fun day at Water Country!

We welcome you to Camp Tevya!
This week, we were honored to welcome both the Cohen Camps Board and Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC) Board, alongside FJC Senior Leadership Staff, to Camp Tevya. FJC is a national organization dedicated to strengthening and expanding the Jewish camp experience, and many of its board members were visiting Tevya for the first time!
These visits are an important opportunity to showcase the impact of Jewish camping and the incredible community we’ve built at Tevya. As these leaders on both Boards help shape the future of Jewish camps, we were proud to share the joy, connection, and lifelong memories that make Camp Tevya such a special place.
