Camp Tevya | Week 4 | Inclusion + Kindness

Share

Dear Tevya Families,

Here we are, with the end of First Session in sight. Tomorrow you will get that big hug you have been waiting the past few weeks to experience. The days have flown by, filled with laughter, new friendships, and unforgettable experiences. It seems like only moments ago we were greeting campers at the gate, and now we’re savoring the last few days together before we send them home with full hearts and amazing stories to share.

Throughout the session, campers have thrown themselves into the spirit of Tevya life—whether it’s roasting s’mores at the campfire, pushing themselves on the ropes course and climbing tower, or simply hanging out with bunkmates during rest hour. Every day has brought opportunities to try something new, build confidence, and share joyful moments.

We’ve watched our campers grow in ways big and small—taking on leadership roles, learning new skills, and showing kindness and courage throughout the day. Camp is truly a place where growth happens naturally, and it’s been a privilege to witness their journeys.

As we soak in these final hours of First Session, we’re focused on making every moment count. There’s still more fun ahead, and we’re excited for the memories still to be made before we close this chapter and turn the page to Second Session.

Thank you for entrusting us with your campers and for being part of this amazing adventure; Your partnership is tremendously valued. Here’s a glimpse at what’s been happening around camp this week:

Camp Happenings

On Monday our Basketball teams hit the courts for tournament play, Senior Boys traveled to YJ and Jr Boys headed to CTN. On Wednesday, we proudly hosted the Jr. Jr Co-Ed Basketball tournament here at Tevya, while the Senior Girls Basketball team visited CTN and our Jr. Girls Basketball team headed to YJ.  Congratulations to our Bogrot Basketball for coming out on top! And, as if that wasn’t enough game play, we sent our Doubles Tennis Team to YJ for the Annual YJ Doubles Tournament. We had representation in the finals for both boys and girls and the boys pulled off a win. It was a big week of games and matches and a lot of great sportsmanship all around.

Evening Activities:

Oles: Campfire with s’mores, Choose Your Own Adventure Stations, Mission Impossible, Bar Mitzvah Games

Tsofs: Mission Impossible, Shark Tank, Karaoke Bingo, Paint Night (Tsofot), Poker Night (Tsofim)

KTY: Trip Night to Chunky’s, Mission Impossible, Beach Bonding, Paint Night (K), Capture the Flag, Poker Night (TY)

BTC: Mission Impossible, Banquet Prep (they have been hard at work using all the time they can to prepare for Saturday’s All Camp Banquet)

On Thursday night, we gathered as a full camp community for one of our favorite traditions—Tevya Night of the Arts (TARTS). From high-energy hip hop to spirited cheer routines, and a fantastic original performance of The Little Mermaid, the creativity and talent on display were truly inspiring. It was an amazing display of community and inclusion, a couple of our Jewish values of the week this session.

Value of the Week: Inclusion

Our Midat Hashavuah this week was Inclusion, the idea that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether it’s inviting someone new to join your game, making space in a circle, or feeling like your point of view is valued, inclusion is what helps turn camp into a true community. When we take small actions to include others, we create big waves of kindness and connection all around us. Sneak peek: next week’s value is Respect.

Friday afternoon, we had our Waterski Show! Select campers had the chance to showcase their skills on the waterfront as part of our closing celebration. It was a beautiful day to be out on the lake with perfect temps, bright sunshine and a refreshing breeze.

Looking Ahead…

After our final Shabbat and a bit more packing, we’ll gather in Elbess for the First Session Department Award Ceremony. Campers will be recognized for their accomplishments and growth across their daily activities and electives.

This evening brings our First Session Banquet, lovingly prepared by Birya and Tel Chai. This themed dinner, followed by Havdalah, the Banquet Slideshow, and our final Shira, promises to be a meaningful and emotional sendoff for our first session campers.

Tomorrow, we’re excited to welcome our Season families for Visiting Day, and then it’s full steam ahead into Second Session with new campers arriving Monday morning. Thank you for being a part of this vibrant community.

Here’s to a strong finish and the joy of all that’s still to come!
