Support Kadima Leadership Training

Yes! I/we will support teen leaders!

Thank you for giving to support Kadima at…

Camp PembrokeCamp Tel NoarCamp Tevya

Your tax-deductible contribution will support Kadima*, the CIT/CAT/CA Leadership Training Summer at Camp Pembroke, Camp Tel Noar, and Camp Tevya. Building on 85 years of expertise—and best practices from Jewish camps around the nation—Kadima will enhance the opportunities for camp teens while ensuring a more experienced, skilled staff for our campers.

* In Hebrew, “Kadima” means “to move forward, to advance.”

Here’s why Kadima is so important:

Today’s young adults seek meaningful, positive growth.

While juggling the race for school and college, they must avoid what’s called “toxic stress.” Ahead of joining the workforce, they want real-life, hands-on practice in 21st Century skills like responsible decision-making, communication, and relationship building.

Today’s campers need skilled, caring role models.

For every generation, Jewish camp shapes and nurtures lifelong Jewish community. Campers rely on their experienced, engaged, highly-trained staff role models. By growing into young leaders, teens “pay it forward” for the campers who follow. Did you know? Our camps now require 30% MORE counselors than in the 1970’s/80’s: we offer many more activities and attend ever-more-carefully to children’s social/emotional well-being.

Kadima Vision: A bigger, better experience, now open to all teens

UNTIL NOW, very few teens could secure a competitive spot in the year after the Dor L’Dor Israel trip. (American Camp Association accreditation limits under-18 slots.)
WITH KADIMA, every teen can take part. Dor L’Dor back-at-camp weeks will improve “re-entry” with greater bonding & guided reflection. The CIT/CAT/CA summer will build teens’ skills in a cohesive cohort. Supportive coaching will power new responsibilities.

Kadima Framework: Community and Growth

  • A strong curriculum in communication, teamwork, responsibility, empathy, & time management.
  • Deep, rewarding service experience with time to de-stress & prepare for senior year.
  • Sustained Jewish connection while teens are making choices about college & future.

Dedicated Facilities: An Eco-Friendly Yurt Village

Air-conditioned, private housing, away from campers | Community center with: Indoor gathering space for 50+ people | Bathrooms | Workspace for school & college prep | Wi-Fi | Kitchenette | Senior staff bedrooms | Firepit!

A Day in the Life of Kadima

  • Shadowing/co-leading camper activities
  • Reflection with Kadima peer group
  • Certification training options (Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, etc)
  • Dedicated, self-directed time for schoolwork & college essays
  • Service projects

Making this happen takes visionary supporters. Like you!

Alumni, do you remember? We’ve done this before! Teens completed a full-summer CIT/CAT/CA program at each camp until the late 1990’s.
