Tuition Programs + Financial Assistance

The Cohen Camps strive to make the Jewish camping experience accessible and available to as many families as possible. Many institutions in the Jewish community make this a priority, too. Financial aid and scholarships are available from many different resources including synagogues, local Federations, private funders, and the Cohen Camps.

The following are some of the sources for financial assistance for first-time campers and all camp families. You are also welcome to call the office at 781.489.2070 to ask for other resources.

All new Cohen Camps campers automatically enjoy a special welcome: $500 off the Full Season or $250 off First or Second Session.

We will apply this Welcome Grant to your account directly. No further action needed on your part!

In addition, many campers who are new to Jewish overnight camping qualify for the Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC) One Happy Camper (OHC) program. See the next item below for how to apply.

Many campers who are new to Jewish overnight camping qualify for the Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC) One Happy Camper (OHC) program. This terrific resource provides need-blind grants of up to $1000 for your first-time camper’s tuition, and up to $500 for each subsequent camper in your household!

Eligibility and grant amounts are determined by your local sponsoring organization. Your family must apply for One Happy Camper directly.

You will receive two confirmations: one to let you know that your application was received, and a second one when your grant gets approved. Please let us know when you receive this second confirmation indicating you are approved.

The following Federations have OHC programs and have supported Cohen Camps campers in the past:

One Happy Camper funding may also be available through the PJ Library.

To find other sponsors not listed above for the One Happy Camper grants, visit www.onehappycamper.org.

Many of these organizations listed above also provide needs-based financial aid to help families pay for camp.

Keep camp in the family! Enroll multiple children or siblings at this camp – or at any of the three Cohen Camps (Tel Noar, Tevya and Pembroke) – and save. Your first camper attends at regular tuition, and all your additional campers receive a reduced rate: $350 off the Full Season or $200 off First or Second Session.

Please note: only one discount per child, so first-timer children in the same household will receive the higher First-Time Camper Welcome Grant, and then the Multi-Child Discount when applicable in subsequent years.

As a returning camper, you can sign up in the fall at Early Bird tuition rates and priority placement before we open enrollment to new families. The deadline is FIRM, so please apply quickly!

Complete the application process and pay your tuition in full by February 1, 2023 to enjoy $200 off the Full Season or $125 off First or Second Session for each camper!

You may use any form of payment to pay in full by this date:

  • Preferred: Cash, eCheck, or mailed check
  • New for Summer 2023: Credit cards accepted

Currently-enrolled camper families, please invite your friends to join the Cohen Camps family. They’ll get a First-Time Camper Grant–and you’ll get a $150 Referral Thank You at the end of their first summer! Refer a Friend here.

Please note: open only to currently-enrolled camper families.

The Cohen Camps Scholarships offer partial tuition assistance to families based on financial need. We believe that the Jewish summer camp experience should be available for every Jewish child, regardless of ability to pay. We allocate tuition assistance using a fee scale based on family size, income, and expenses, and require a current tax return. Families must reapply for assistance each year.

We send out the Cohen Camps Scholarships application form in November/December. Please contact the Cohen Camps office at 781.489.2070 as soon as possible for information, forms, requirements, and deadlines.

Please note that CJP, Boston’s Jewish Federation, provides additional camp scholarships based on these same Cohen Camps forms. The CJP deadline is earlier than the Cohen Camps deadline. To receive the maximum possible aid, we encourage you to complete your application by the earlier CJP deadline, which will be specified in your Cohen Camps Scholarships application materials.

Many Jewish Federations, synagogues, and other Jewish community organizations provide needs-based financial aid to help families pay for camp. The following list highlights some of the organizations that have supported Cohen Camps families in the past.  We encourage you to reach out to organizations and synagogues directly to explore your options. Please do so as early as possible, because these funds are often limited.

If you discover any resources we should add to this list, please let us know!
