First-Time Campers
Ready? Set? Camp!
Welcome to your first summer at Camp Tevya!
Everyone has a first summer here, so we know some of what you’re feeling: excitement and maybe a little nervousness. But don’t worry: you’ll feel you are a part of the spirited Tevya family right away!
We start each session with lots of games, both as a whole camp and as a bunk. Campers all have lots of new friends by dinnertime the first day. Plus, at meals we’ll assign each camper to a table with kids of all ages, so everyone will get to know each other together.
We recommend that even first-time campers sign up for a regular session. But if you–or your parents–want to dip a toe in more gently, please check out the two mini-session options for younger first-time campers.

Get a Taste
Try a Camp Sleepover!
(Day-only option, too!)
Come enjoy a day and night of fun for your prospective Tevya camper, a tour for you, and Kosher BBQ lunch as our guests. While we offer tours all summer, this chance for your camper to try camp for themselves is a once-a-session event!
First-Timer Welcome Grants
Every first-time camper receives an automatic Welcome Grant lowering the cost of each regular session. You may also qualify for an additional grant through the OneHappyCamper program. Explore our Tuition Resources, including Cohen Camps financial assistance.
Consider a Mini-Session
For younger first-time campers
Friendships here bloom quickly, and deepen over time. The longer campers stay, the more new skills they master and the more confidence and independence they gain.
We recommend that even first-time campers sign up for a regular session. But sometimes campers–or parents–want other options. If that’s you, then consider a mini-session!

Taste of Tevya
Wednesday, June 23 –
Tuesday, July 6, 2027
Open to first-time campers entering Grades 3-6 in 2027.
Limited space. Apply early!
Happy campers may opt to stay for the whole regular session, space permitting.
1-Week
Yalla! Tevya
Monday, July 19 –
Sunday, July 25, 2027
Open to first-time campers entering 2nd Grade in 2027.
“Yalla!” means “Let’s go!” in Hebrew.
Please note that Yalla! campers will not have the option to extend their stay. You may want to consider a regular session instead, if that’s of interest.
Mini-session campers will get a taste of all of the magic of camp! Your child will sample tons of fun activities, with specialized programming differentiated for this age group. The daily schedule will be full of arts, sports, swimming, boating, and more, plus special events and evening activities, topped off by the spirited Tevya Shabbat experience.
