Global diversity is a special part of the Cohen Camps experience. We welcome campers and staff from all over the world to join our camp families each summer. International campers primarily come from Israel or Europe, and our international staff tend to come from Israel, Europe, Mexico, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and Columbia. Join us this summer!
For international campers
Campers traveling internationally receive an $1,800USD tuition discount, in recognition of the cost of travel, on top of our usual discount for first-time campers.
Total first-time tuition will be:
- Full season: $10,700USD
- First Session: $5,850USD
- Second Session: $5,550USD

We can pick up campers and staff arriving by air, with prior notice. A camp staff member and a safe, reliable van can meet them. Please contact the office or camp leadership to discuss your specific travel needs PRIOR to making any travel arrangements.

Community
Your camper will have good company! Our campers and staff mostly come from the Northeast United States. Many come from other parts of the United States, as well as Israel and Europe.
Our teams of camp staff take their responsibility to nurture and care for our campers very seriously. Each team member works hard to serve as a role model and to make a positive impact each day.
Camp administrative and supervisory personnel are camping professionals and educators with many years of experience working with children. Many counselors grew up as campers themselves, and many of those came through our Dor L’Dor Israel travel capstone program and our Kadima teen leadership training.
Some of our counselors come from abroad, including a delegation of about a dozen Israeli counselors at each camp each summer, greatly enhancing the camp experience.
We select our staff for their experience, maturity, creativity, and sense of responsibility. Our summer staff attends a week-long Staff Orientation, in addition to individual specialty training to improve teaching skills. Ongoing training continues throughout the summer with seminars and mentoring.
We work very hard to integrate each child into their bunk and the entire camp community. With get-to-know-you games and plenty of opportunities to build rapport as a group and one-on-one, it takes very little time–sometimes just hours–for our campers to feel they are part of the camp family.
We have many Israelis and Hebrew-speakers on staff, along with speakers of other languages, so your child can get comfortable quickly. We cherish our welcoming community, where everyone will do their best to help your child feel included and supported. Children who start camp with little or no English skills leave speaking and comfortably using the language.
Travel
No worries! We can pick up campers and staff arriving by air, with prior notice. A camp staff member and a safe, reliable van can meet them. We will stay in touch with you so you always know what's happening.

Many campers stay for the full season. Camp remains open on the transition day between sessions. While local families may come to camp for Visiting Day, many others are not able to make the trip. Your child will have plenty of company, with lots of activities and continued staff supervision on this relaxed day between sessions.
Packing for Camp
Camp will provide those big items, to make your international travel easier. Blankets, sheets, and towels will be provided for campers and staff traveling from Israel or another country.
Campers wear comfortable, casual clothes to participate in daily activities. Our footwear policy requires that campers wear footwear appropriate to their activity, such as sneakers for tennis.
As part of our Shabbat environment, on Friday evening and Saturday morning everyone wears blue and white clothing. Campers like to dress up a little for the end-of-session banquet in a nice but not elaborate outfit. You’ll find a recommended list of clothing at your Family Login for enrolled campers.
The Amerasport company offers fun camp-logo gear such as t-shirts and sweatpants. Each camper needs two camp t-shirts to wear for inter-camp activities, trip days, and camp pictures. Camp gear also makes a great gift! Look for the "Shop" link on the bottom of your camp's website.
We will help! Contact your camp's office and we can discuss with you the easiest way to make arrangements. We maintain a "no package policy" so that campers receive only letters, to simplify the summer for everyone... but if your child needs goggles or flip-flips or toothpaste or some other item, the office will make sure your child can be cared for.
Communications
All summer, you can use our login system to send one-way emails to your camper (we print them out here). Your child can also mail you letters in return.
We keep summer unplugged! We do not allow phones at camp. Campers enjoy two months free of phones (yes, it’s possible, and even easy). Your international camper may travel with their phone, and then we will store it securely in the camp office. You may have a video call with your international camper every Friday evening.
Completing your family’s first online application for your camp will create your Family Login account. Once enrolled, you’ll use your Family Login to complete forms and download the packing list.
Each week your camper is at camp, you'll receive a weekly email from the leadership team sharing all the excitement that took place in the previous week.
All summer, your Family Login is your gateway to photos, videos, and the previous weekly camp updates. You can even send one-way emails to your camper (we print them out here; no waiting for the mail to arrive!)
Campers are required to write a letter home at least three times each week. You can send them mail and small packages (no food or candy), which we distribute Sunday through Friday.

Jewish Life
The Cohen Camps are Zionist, fostering a strong connection to Israel and Jewish identity.
Our camp communities are pluralist and trans-denominational, so our camper families engage in a wide range of Jewish practice and observance. They may affiliate with synagogues or Jewish communities of any denomination–or not affiliate at all. They may send their child to Hebrew School or to Jewish day school – or camp may give their child their only “formal” Jewish experience. They may consider their home Jewish or interfaith. Everyone is welcome here. What all our families share: an appreciation for the transformative, lifelong effect that Jewish camping can offer their child’s emotional, spiritual and social growth, and the foundational values it provides.
Our Kosher kitchen serves kid-friendly choices with lots of fresh vegetables and fruit. The salad bar available at every lunch and dinner helps give everyone plenty of energy. We serve healthy snacks twice a day, and have bowls of fresh fruit available all day long. Campers, you’ll find something you like at every meal: we promise!
Yes! Each year, The Jewish Agency recruits charismatic and energetic young Israelis to travel abroad as Summer Camp Shlichim in North America, where they work in Jewish summer camps as counselors, specialists and educators. We host a delegation of Shlichim at each of our camps, where they organize activities like Hebrew singing, dancing, and other events related to Israeli culture. They also live in the bunks, join campers at meals, and are an important part of daily camp life.
Health + Nutrition
At our Health Centers, full-time nurses live at camp and handle all health care issues for campers and staff throughout the summer. This includes a daily Health Call and dispensing of daily medications. We have physicians on call only a short drive away from each camp. Nurses will be on hand at each session’s Opening Day to review any special requirements for your child’s health.
In case of emergencies, there are several major hospitals in the area. Should your child spend time in the Health Center overnight or require medical attention from a physician, you will be notified.
We require that all medications go through our approved pharmacy partner. Receiving all medications pre-packaged in a uniform way helps us give each child exactly the right dose every time–and gets them in and out of the Health Center more quickly. With prior notice, we can accommodate most food allergies and/or a vegetarian diet.
We’re nut-aware! Our camps do not have any items on site that contain peanuts or tree nuts.

Security + Connection
The Cohen Camps are committed to ensuring that camp is a safe, carefree experience for each camper and staff person. While our camps are in quiet locations, set away from roads and cars, we are always attentive to security.
Over the last two years, all three Cohen Camps have significantly enhanced our security measures. We completed full security assessments through the CJP Communal Security Initiative and implemented physical and training upgrades. Our camps control and monitor car access. We have outdoor security cameras and upgraded communications tools. A private security firm patrols our camps at night. Our staff are all extensively, professionally trained before camps. And we have close relationships with the police and local emergency responders; they are very attentive to our camps year round, and especially in summer.
